Sylvie Hooghe

Ceramist in Forcalquier (04)

Sylvie Hooghe works porcelain, plate, in very soft pastel tones. The very contemporary style of its utilitarian pieces (cups, bowls, salad bowls, teapot ...) alternates straight lines and - falsely - torn edges, to better reveal the material and the ceramic work thus laid bare. The unstructured shape further gives each of its pieces its unique status. It also revisits the traditional porcelain tea cup, giving it an irregular surface, to better reflect the hand-crafting. Finally Sylvie Hooghe plays with the transparency of porcelain in a range of candle holders, the delicacy of which is reminiscent of lace.
